Review: Shadowed (Fated #3) by Sarah Alderson

Author: Sarah Alderson
Series: Fated Series
Genre: YA, Fantasy/Paranormal, Romance
Release Date: March 31, 2013
Source: Purchased from Amazon
My Rating: 5/5 stars
Summary From Goodreads:
Fate has won. The realms have been severed...but the fight’s still far from over.
It’s been three months since the devastating battle that closed the way through between this world and the demon realms but Evie’s still reeling from all she's lost.
When news reaches her that a group of Originals is on the prowl in LA and growing in numbers, Evie must decide whether to join the rogue Hunters in a final battle or fight her fate one last time.
The way through might be closed. But that doesn’t mean Evie’s got closure.

My Thoughts:

Sarah creates a world where Demons run free and Shadow Warriors are born to kill them (a lot like Shadow Hunters in The Mortal Instruments series by Cassandra Clare). Evie is part of an old prophecy that she though she completed but when more Demons appear and things turn awry, nothing is what it seems. Enemies and friends will have to unite in this one epic battle against good versus evil. Which one will prevail? Read the series to find out!

After reading the horrible cliffhanger of an ending in Severed, I knew I had to buy this book right away, and I did. I put off reading it though due to time constraints, and the fact that I still wasn't over the ending of the second book.

I'm glad I eventually did read it because I absolutely adored it (like all of Sarah Alderson's other books)! I really didn't know what to expect and was definitely surprised by the two major plot twists. I won't tell you any spoilers but you will not see them coming. Also, Evie goes through a large emotional change, driving her actions in a different direction. She channels all her grief into revenge which leads to some interesting events. The end of the book was absolutely perfect. The ending note leaves the reader feeling satisfied, yet allows enough room for another book to be written.

Sarah Alderson managed to keep me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire novel, furiously flipping through the pages to find out what happens next. I hope to see more of Evie and her friends in the future! ❤

My Favorite Quote:

"You said once that life takes us down a path, that leads us places that sometimes we don't want to go." He smiled, his fingers stroking along her cheekbone. 'But it always, always brings us to exactly the point where we're supposed to be," he murmured, leaning down and kissing her.

Would I recommend the Fated series? Of course!

This is also my first review, so I would love some feed back! :)

  1. I hadn't heard of this series. And I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't read Cassandra Clare's series. Thanks for the great review.

    1. Yeah, this is not a very well known series, but I really enjoyed reading it. And you should definitely read The Mortal Instruments and/or the prequel series, The Infernal Devices. They are both fantastic! I still can't get over the Clockwork Princess (the last book in The Infernal Devices trilogy), it was just too good. I'm excited to see the City of Bones movie that comes out in about 5 days!

  3. I have read Sarah Alderson's other series (the Lila series) and quite enjoyed them. I didn't actually know that she had another series, so I'll have to give them a try!
