Waiting on Wednesday #36

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Breaking The Spine, that highlights upcoming releases we're anticipating.

Author: Megan Shepherd
Series: The Cage
Genre: YA, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Romance
Release Date: May 26, 2015
Summary From Goodreads:
When Cora Mason wakes in a desert, she doesn't know where she is or who put her there. As she explores, she finds an impossible mix of environments—tundra next to desert, farm next to jungle, and a strangely empty town cobbled together from different cultures—all watched over by eerie black windows. And she isn't alone.
Four other teenagers have also been taken: a beautiful model, a tattooed smuggler, a secretive genius, and an army brat who seems to know too much about Cora's past. None of them have a clue as to what happened, and all of them have secrets. As the unlikely group struggles for leadership, they slowly start to trust each other. But when their mysterious jailer—a handsome young guard called Cassian—appears, they realize that their captivity is more terrifying than they could ever imagine: Their captors aren't from Earth. And they have taken the five teenagers for an otherworldly zoo—where the exhibits are humans.
As a forbidden attraction develops between Cora and Cassian, she realizes that her best chance of escape might be in the arms of her own jailer—though that would mean leaving the others behind. Can Cora manage to save herself and her companions? And if so . . . what world lies beyond the walls of their cage?

Why I'm waiting:

I loved Megan Shepherd's previous books, the Mad Man's Daughter and Her Dark Curiosity so I'm super excited for The Cage. It's such a unique sounding book which makes me curious to see how Shepherd incoporates the zoo aspect. Also, the cover is so cool! I love the dome and the vines with the sand.

What are you waiting to read? Tell me in the comments!

Megan Shepherd was "born" into the book world, growing up in her parents' independent bookstore in Western North Carolina. She is the author of THE MADMAN'S DAUGHTER trilogy (Balzer+Bray/2013), and THE CAGE trilogy (Balzer+Bray/2015). When Megan is not writing, she can usually be found horseback riding, day dreaming at coffee shops, or hiking in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains. She is represented by Josh Adams at Adams Literary.

  2. I've read the Madman's Daughter, it was high on my TBR what with ALLLL THE PRAISE I've been hearing about the book. Unfortunately... I didn't like it. I liked the gruesome and morbid parts but it was such a poor love triangle and it felt to me that the love triangle and romance were the centre of the story quite a few times rather than finding who the killer was. *sigh* IDK. So many other people love it, I wanted to love it too... However, I will probably still give The Cage a try cuz it sounds so interesting! Hope you love it! :)

    Great post!
